The content featured in the following editorial project is taken from my Dissertation of 2021. It focused on the 1980s and 1990s rave culture and how the design within that movement has translated into the commercial club scene today. The dissertation required extensive research into the history of British subcultures and a comprehensive investigation into the 1980s and 1990s rave culture which allowed a comprehensive analysis to produce a thorough and considered report on how design from rave has manifested into today’s club culture.

The visual approach of the project pays homage to the design style of brutalism with the bold use of typography. The use of colour pays reference to rave culture itself, using bright colours for emphasis and highlighting imagery, used in conjunction with black and white for contrast. The project follows an informative yet engaging narrative, considering composition, pace, and typography alongside the use of imagery.
